What does backup and restore mean? Your computer stores two different kinds of files... PROGRAM files, which run programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Quicken, Turbotax, Itunes, etc. And DATA files, which contain the stuff you have created or saved with those programs, things like documents, tax returns, financial data, pictures, music and address books. DATA files can be protected by copying to other devices. This is called backing up data. PROGRAM files cannot be protected by backing up. They need to be RE-INSTALLED from the original CD or setup file. At Chipheads, we are happy to include backing up and restoring all accessible DATA files at no additional charge. Re-installing PROGRAM files is also included, but YOU have to provide us with the original program CD's. What does accessible mean? It means copying files from a functioning, uncorrupted hard drive. Sometimes a hard drive is crashed, damaged or corrupted to a point where the files are not accessible by normal means. In this case, Chipheads is proud to offer DATA RECOVERY services at an additional charge. These services are designed to extract data from a crashed hard drive and require labor intensive recovery methods as well as specialized software and hardware.
